I don’t need one, yet my compulsion to test it eventuated in me spending the day with a friend’s brand spanking new one (even before he had used it).
It’s pretty. Aesthetically very very pretty. But… what does it do?
Essentially it’s my iphone? A few more features, but not quite my Macbook, and certainly not my Macbook Pro or iMac.
So its a $650-$1000 book reader/movie player in my eyes…. so i don’t need it. I don’t see, (in it’s current form), where it fits in life.
Who has a need for it? Surely it can all be done in a much simpler and cost effective way.
Reasonings behind purchases, and justifications of the hype border from unrealistic to damn right ridiculous….
So in my eyes it’s a waste of money, a completely useless piece of technology.

I love Cambodia.
This beautiful country has struggled through the Khmer Rouge, Pol Pot and the genocide throughout the last 40 years. Their life, culture, history and over an 8th of their population was destroyed. The influential and the intelligent members of the community were targeted and executed. The cities were evacuated and men, women and children were marched into the harsh rural areas and forced to work like slaves. Subtle reminders of the Khmer Rouge’s history in Cambodia is evident. But what stands out most of all is the children.
These children enter a world of hardship from a time that they know nothing of, yet have such a wonderful outlook on life and all they want to do is play and run around and have fun. It really puts our lives in perspective.
We have a pretty amazing life… I guess we need to remember that…
Well this is quite different from the minimalistic design of my last site, but I can express myself a little better with this one.
This is still under construction! BUT I hope it will be done by the end of the day….
Australia. It’s supposed to be warm. I’m pretty sure you close your eyes and think of Australia, and it’s snow white sand beaches, scorched red dirt outback (with the accompanying kangaroo & koala chilling in the background), wide open plains with a drover on a horse, and perhaps also girls sunbathing in bikinis? Brilliant yes?…. right now. NO.
The constant in all of those conjured mental images, was a very warm star (commonly called the sun) that keeps us nice and toasty. Considering the temperature of the last few days, if you have any idea on the location of the aforementioned natural heater, please let me know as my fingers are going blue.
I often wonder, why do we all live in a climate that doesn’t suit us. I know this cold weather is temporary here, but it has made me wonder…What is it about life that makes us put up with something that we don’t love, purely because it’s instilled in us that it’s the right thing to do. People that live in a cold climate and whinge about it…. move? I think a lot of people are forgetting that life is choice. If you don’t like what you are doing, who you are with, where you live, what you look like… you can change it. It’s not necessarily easy… but it’s all choice.
Summer ended very abruptly… The skies opened up and released a very fierce storm of hailstones, wind and rain. This decimated the CBD, flooding the shops and streets, damaging cars, smashing windows, as well as ruining trees and foliage. As destructive as it was. There is quiet beauty in the mother nature’s power and uncontrollable force. Once again proving that we are never in control.
Komune Surf Resort & Svelt PR were kind enough to fly me up to Gold Coast recently to cover an event with my other company Secret Society. The sunset coming through this Miami inspired party was breathtaking so I grabbed my lenses and put them to work.
Melbourne is an amazing city. It is made up of so many different cultures, people and personalities… all of which are expressed throughout the city if you open your eyes. Photos can be taken in this city and without knowledge can be mistaken for many different parts of the world. The indi-culture and graffiti art in the city is amazing, and some of it is quite intelligent and artistic. You could quite easily get lost with a lens in this beautiful city.
